Nanaimo,  BC

My name is Susan Mann. I am a mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

I have sewn my whole life, generally making clothing and costumes for my two daughters. I took a break from sewing for a while and since I have stopped working, I have gotten back into it.

For the past 4 years I have been sewing mainly children's clothing. I love creating for kids! I also know the great cost in clothing children and adults alike.

Last year I decided to start making bags from recycled denim. There is so much waste in this world, I wanted to see if I could fulfill my sewing passion with items donated or thrifted. I also adore vintage linens and it always breaks my heart to see the thrift stores and garage sales filled with these items, that at one time, took many hours or time and love to create. I wanted to see if I could give this unwanted linens and denim new life.

From there to here has been so much fun! I can spend hours each day creating one of a kind, unique pieces for both children, adults and for the home. It is a challenge to look at an item and try to repurpose it in a way that is useful and wanted. There is a lot of trial and error! But in the end, the outcome is always satisfying to me, and hopefully useful to others.
