Meet the Maker

Spools End

Powell River,  BC

I started sewing at age five. By the time I was in my teens I was creating clothing for myself. I my twenties I made my first quilt from salvaged fabrics. After moving to Regina I took a number of quilting classes. I opened a handcraft and giftware shop. It soon morphed into a quilting shop. There I taught classes and started designing quilting patterns. A friend started teaching classes at the shop making fur coat bears. Three of her bears were given to the royal family. She decided to train me so I could take over her business when she retired. We referred to her as the bear lady and I was the apprentice. Now I am the bear lady and create one of a kind bears from old fur coats. relocating to Powell River I have opened a small quilt shop were I create new items.
